PaperPaperDesigning the banners, I wanted to raise awareness about the scale of the papermaking industry and how impactful on the environment the usage of paper really is. The banner is built to be thoughtful through contrast. In general perception, data means large numbers over large periods of time, but using small numbers in the right context is a more direct way of putting things in perspective for the viewers.
The second banner puts in perspective how resource-consuming the papermaking industry is. The simplicity of the banner makes the information the main focus and makes it easy to assimilate.
The glass tube with flying post-it notes inside that I have developed as an exhibition piece is intended to put in perspective the sustainability of paper consumption at the rate it happens now. Unless paper recycling and conscious paper consumption are common in our lives, the apparent stable flow of paper will eventually come to an end.
